Hello! I’m the David behind David Explains Medicare.
I’m David Schroeder (pronounced “Shrayder”) born and raised in Dallas, Texas. After graduating Baylor University with a double major in Marketing and Management, I began working in the advertising world. Thirteen years later and tired of the grind, I decided to take some time to decide what was next.
I love to teach, hike, and travel, so a friend suggested an industry with more flexibility to do all three. I was introduced to Aflac and began building my supplemental insurance career. Over the years I’ve helped thousands of clients through difficult situations– insurance is one of those things that you hope you never need but you’re so glad you have when you do. When I expanded to include Medicare, my clients were happy to see that I could continue helping them through yet another transition!
These days, I’m happily married to Michelle and father to Henry. We enjoy living in Lake Highlands and attend Northwest Bible Church. When I’m not working or making pizzas and waffles for the family, I’m at a Baylor game (Sic ‘em!) or visiting with family at the lake– fishing pole in hand.
I still love to travel, and I’ve been able to hike some of my favorite parts of the world. I’ve hiked in Iceland, Isle of Skye in Scotland, Switzerland, Big Bend, Zion (including The Narrows), Wales, the Dolomites in Italy, and enjoyed beautiful visits to Paris, London, Prague, Croatia, Venice, and southern Spain. I love a good adventure, but there’s nowhere else I’d rather live than in our great country.
